It’s a new year and life is good!
Well, you can probably tell by the date, that this is the first post I’ve made in a long time. I know, I know, I’m a slacker!
Actually, from October through December, I was slammed! It was great. I’m finally starting to catch up. I really appreciate all of the holiday greetings.
I promise I will try and do better to keep up with this blog.
By the way, we are working on something new. Please keep checking back.
Good luck in 2012!
Finally getting back to work.
Well, as you can see, it’s been a couple of months since I’ve posted. That is because I have been slammed! It is truly a great year for recruiting.Since this sight is my part-time gig, I haven’t been able to do a lot of posting. And yes, I read all of your comments. But to answer a lot of you, if you want one-on-one coaching, you need to sign up for it. I really don’t like to do it during daytime hours because that is when I’m actively recruiting. It’s just like I’ve told many of you before…….Yes, I am an active recruiter and have been since 1997.
Anyway, I am posting a picture from my recent vacation with my family. We left 6/17 and just got back the other day. My wife and I took the kids to Europe for the first time and it was great. I bought an Ipad before I left and was actually able to do quite a bit of work while I was gone. It was great, actually I made a placement while I was gone. Talk about a “virtual office”……….
Wake up and smell the coffee!
Well, if you have been waiting to get in the recruiting game, wait no more. You need to wake up and get your butt in gear.
If you pay attention to the economy, you would have noticed by now, that we are on an upward swing. Which is great news. I literally have more jobs on my desk than I know what to do with.
Don’t wait until we hit the peak. It’s like buying a stock…..you want to buy it on it’s way up, not when it has reached the top.
Spring has sprung!
Well, if you pay attention to the news, you will notice that companies have started hiring again. That’s good news for everyone, especially recruiters!!
Our phones have been ringing off the hook. Companies have waited so long to see what was happening with the economy, that now they have tons of positions that need to be filled.
If you’ve ever thought of getting into this industry, there has never been a better time to get on board.
Now is a great time to get in the game……
If you pay attention to the news, you have probably heard that temporary hiring is on the rise. What does that mean for recruiters like us?
Well, if you look at history over the past 30 years or so, whenever temp hiring picks up, perm hiring and placement is not far behind!
That’s great news for us! And believe me, it’s starting now. Business is really picking up.
If you’ve been waiting to get started, wait no more!
Happy New Year fellow recruiters!
Well, I hope everyone had a joyous holiday season. Now back to the real world. Luckily, the real world is looking better. Everyone I know in the recruiting industry is slammed! That’s a good thing.
Good luck this year!
No, this is not an MLM !! —No BS sold here! – Please click on “Opportunity” at the top!
OK, I get this a lot and it is beginning to get old. We are not selling some MLM crap here!
We are recruiters. This is what we do. We teach people how to be recruiters. There is no selling products or talking to your “warm market”.
You got to this website because you were obviously looking for something. The bottom line is, if you want to legitimately work from home, this is the place to do it.
There are no lotions, potions, energy/weight loss drinks, or any other types of BS being sold here.
Sorry to sound so harsh, but I just want people to read the whole web page before sending emails!
Tracking your calls.
OK, during some recent coaching sessions, people seem to be getting away from the “basics”.
If you are new to this industry, don’t try and re-invent it. You need to stick with the proven methods that work.
When I first started recruiting back in 1997, I was coming from a sales background, so measuring my performance was something I was familiar with doing.
Now, realizing that a lot of you who come into the recruiting industry, have really different backgrounds, measuring your progress might be a new experience.
As a newcomer to the industry, you absolutely want to track your progress. The easiest way to start that is by tracking every call you make. OK, you might think that is crazy, but believe me it helps.
Here’s what you do:
-Grab a notebook or you can create a spreadsheet
- across the top, create 4 columns, and the days of the week down the side.
The top should look like this
# of dials / dials to connect/ connect to profile/ profiles to interview
OK, if you actually keep track of every number every week, you will start to see where you are succeeding and where you might need help.
Use those numbers. Take that information and apply it to your business. “Tweek” what you are doing to achieve the lowest ratios of # of dials to # of interviews.
And remember, if you need some one on one coaching, send us an e-mail to info@recruitfromhome.com
Keepin’ it Old School
I keep getting a lot of questions about technology and how it affects the recruiting industry.
Well, in my opinion, technology is a good thing and there are a lot of products out there that can really aid you in your business. Obviously, the internet has done so much to aid recruiters. There are so many tools out there. Call me “old school”, but the bottom line is you still need that personal interaction with both the client and the candidate.
Email and the internet are great, but they are not going to make you any placements. So, absolutely stay up with the current technologies, but don’t let it take time away from your core business…….talking to people
Finding the right person is only part of it….
So, if you are reading this, you are probably well on your way to starting your career in the recruiting industry. As promised (any requested daily), I will use this forum to do a little coaching once in a while.
Here is my coaching for today…………………..It ain’t over til the money is in your bank!
In other words, just because you found a candidate, they interviewed, they got and offer and accepted, you still need to stay in touch with them until they walk in the door at their new job.
That’s all I’m going to say about that right now. There’s more info about that in the training manual.
